Our home is blessed with a giant laundry room, a.k.a. mom cave, on the main floor just off the mudroom.  Even though it is primarily a laundry room, I felt it deserved it’s own mood board.  The “laundry room” is actually turning out to be the most multi-functional room in our house.  The room serves us as a laundry room, office, craft room, sewing room, art room, and classroom.  With all the different activities planned for the laundry room, I wanted to keep it light and airy.  It needed to be organized, but inspirational.  Functional, but beautiful.  We have already added no-sew floor to ceiling drapes and super functional arts and crafts storage.

Is it weird that the first room we decorated was the laundry room?  I think I was just so excited to have a laundry ROOM.  I was used to having laundry closets.  Also, the house did not come with a washer/dryer.  We knew we did not like the builder paint color and wanted to get the room painted before the new washer/dryer arrived.  So it was the first room we painted in the house.  We painted the laundry room Sunken Pool by Martha Stewart.

It is the only room that deviates from our whole house color scheme, but I think it is okay to make exceptions for your favorite color.  The laundry room is one of the most isolated rooms in the house, so we were not concerned with messing up the color flow everywhere else.  In the end, we think the color flows perfectly with the other colors we chose.  The airy color was the jumping off point for this mood board.

VERY COOL, I don’t think it is weird at all to decorate the Laundry room first, most people just neglect it, why not make it your domain. It’s great to have a well thought out space to work in, then it makes laundry feel less like a chore.

My laundry room was the first project in my new home, too. Love your mood board!
