Nursery Inspiration

This is the room that started it all…the love affair with teal and lime.  It all started with the Martha Stewart Plumage wall color.  Rarely have I ever gone so bold with a wall color.  I originally envisioned more of a Tiffany blue for the room, then I saw Plumage and never looked back.  It is a great color for a modern boy nursery and I think it can grow with him.

The risk of such a dark wall color, was easier to swallow knowing we would reuse all of our first son’s white nursery furniture from Room & Board Moda Collection.  The white was a nice contrast to the dark teal.  So, I decided the blue rocker also would need a white slipcover.

For fabrics, I happily discovered a fabric I designed myself at Spoonflower, was a perfect match to the plumage walls.  It also had white and introduced a nice chocolate brown.  I could have gone either way with the accent colors.  For me the aqua color in my fabric design would have been predictable.  Instead I found myself drawn to the lime.  I tried out a few lime green storage bins in the room.  It was a great combination.

If you have been following along, you know I loved the Plumage so much after covering the nursery walls, that we used it in the dining room.  As for accent colors in the dining room…the inspiration board calls for a splash of lime, too :)

I love the colors in your nursery and your CUSTOM fabric. Very cute! I am thinking of using a similar aqua as your laundry room with apple green accents. Love your blog, you have some great things going on!!
