Have you ever eaten from a food truck?  I hadn’t until we visited Hola Arepa.  Food trucks travel around to various locations around major cities and serve up some of the best food.  My husband saw a tweet one day about Hola Arepa and we headed over to try it out.  Let me just say…it was delicious!!!  So delicious that a few weeks later my husband saw the truck, stopped to get some food, and brought the arepas to me at work for a surprise lunch.

Hola Arepa had me at the color turquoise.  I love the truck and it definitely stands out.  Take a look at the closeup of the logo.  I love the graphics hidden in the letters of HOLA.

The truck was appearing at the Uptown Market in Minneapolis.  While we waited for our food, there was live music playing near by.  My son patiently waited and played with his transformers.  Ever notice how calm and at home kids feel outdoors?  He was so sweet while we waited.

The food was just as colorful as the truck.  It definitely tastes as good as it looks.  Arepas are a type of bread made from cornmeal dough on a griddle.  They slice the arepas in half and fill them to make sandwiches.  We tried a black bean and queso fresco arepa, pulled chicken arepa, and a chorizo version.

My father-in-law used to make us arepas for breakfast when we all lived out in Virginia and were able to visit them a couple weekends per month.  Now, I am sure he still makes them in Texas, but we do not get to enjoy them quite as often.  The sandwiches from Hola Arepa helped satisfy a craving.

Yum, arepas are SO good! I’m new to your blog, and I’ve been enjoying reading through all your posts–you have great style. Plus, it’s cool to know we are both in the Twin Cities!
