Jute Wrapped Ornaments

Along with my brown paper curl ornaments, I thought some natural jute would look good on the tree. I already used jute to make hanging loops for the faux ceramic animal ornaments, but I wanted a few all jute ornaments too.  Using the leftover jute I had on hand and some clear rings I made some unique jute ornaments to add to the tree. The clear rings came with a few scarves I purchased at Target this fall. I made these without glue.

For the first one I kept it simple. I used some tape to temporarily secure the end of the jute leaving a tail. I wrapped the jute tightly around the entire ring. To finish it off I tied the two tail ends of jute together in a knot. Then I made another knot at the ends of the tails to create a hanging loop. It turned out to be a cute mini-jute wreath.

For the second one I wanted to try something different. I wrapped the jute around the entire ring. As I looked at the ring. I wrapped the jute to the right of the last wrap at the top of the ring and to the left of the last wrap at the bottom of the ring. This criss-cross wrapping created the cool twist effect in the center of the ring on both sides. I again tied the tail ends together to secure the wrapping and make a hanging loop.

I love the natural jute hanging from the Christmas tree.  It is a nice contrast to the other shiny ornaments and twinkly lights.  I was also able to hang these low on the tree, because they are unbreakable and therefore toddler-safe.
