I love pop-up shops.  Okay, I have only been to one, but I loved it.

This past weekend hubby and I snuck off to Minneapolis sans kids to go to the SnowGRADE.  It is a bi-annual, one day only, pop-up shop for men.  It features local and only USA-made products.

Despite the fact it was for men, there was plenty of eye candy for me too.  The venue made it super fun for me.  It was in Architectural Antiques in Minneapolis, which is a visual and tactile delight.  The vendors were nestled in among the amazing antiques.

One of the sponsors and biggest local vendors was Red Wing Shoes.  Just look at those boots.  I was amazed by that giant stack of leather swatches to choose from.

We also loved these great wool blankets from sponsor and vendor Faribault Woolen Mills.  They had some amazing wool scarves too, but with this unseasonably warm winter we were not shopping for scarves.  In fact, there was barely any snow on the ground for SnowGRADE.

How amazing is this axe?  Would it be weird or totally awesome to use an axe as decor in my family room?  The amazing turquoise and red lacquered handle goes perfectly with my Modern Americana family room.  The craftsmanship of these axes is beautiful.  Best Made was selling the axes and holding a workshop on how to take care of them.  Side note: Their site is beautiful with the axes displayed like the beautiful pieces of art they are!

We did walk away with a few things and surprise, surprise…they were my decor finds.  There was one furniture and decor vendor that had an amazing selection of midcentury modern furniture and decor.  We got to meet one of the owners of local shop, Golden Age Design.  He restores all the furniture in his garage.  They had some amazing pieces and really affordable prices.

I snagged this set of three yellow pots and pair of geese for $24.  Oh, how happy those geese make me.  I don’t know why, but I love them.  I snapped this picture while we were outside dining on all beef franks from Clancey’s Meats with yummy bacon ketchup.

The event was amazing and put together well.  It was crowded, interesting, and energetic.  We are dying to go back and check out Architectural Antiques without all the crowds.

Have you ever been to a pop-up shop?  Did you love it?

  2. I had no idea what a pop-up shop was. I am loving that mid-century chair. Can’t wait to see what your doing with the geese.
