Happiness in a Jar

I have a jar of happiness to share with you today.  With my crazy busy life, I still try to delight in the simple things.  This past weekend I found happiness in a jar, some wooden spools, and pretty twine.

I ordered this sample pack of baker’s twine from The Twinery.  There are many, many twine sellers, but I liked the color selection at the Twinery and I loved that it is made in the USA.   “Sample” probably isn’t the right name, because you get 15 yards of each color.  That is a decent amount of twine.  It comes very simply packaged with a paper wrapper.  It was obvious to me this would not be useable very long without a big tangled mess.

My mom gave me some vintage wooden spools a while back.  I wound the twine samples around each one to keep them tangle free.  Unfortunately, I ran out of the larger size vintage spools.  Mom didn’t have any more either, but she found some similar sized new wooden spools in her stash.  I was able to use the new spools for the last 5 colors.  My sister was over while I was wrapping the last few colors and she liked the twine so much she hopped online and ordered a sample pack for herself.

I happened upon this adorable jar at Home Goods for $6.99!  It has a chunky cork lid, similar to some other thrifted cork top  jars on my living room built-ins.  The jar is made from recycled glass by the same company that made these big green beauties in my dining room.  I thought the embossed “Authentic 100% recycled glass” stamp on the side was cute.

It was meant to be…my 11 wooden spools of twine fit perfectly in the jar!  Totally a jar of happiness.  I will be pulling this guy out whenever I need to wrap a gift.

My recent baker’s twine purchase also prompted me to look for other uses.  I started a Baker’s Twine board on Pinterest to capture some of my favorite baker’s twine projects.
