My new header is lighter, brighter, and more me. I have been toying with the idea of changing out my header for a while. Finally, I decided it was time to lighten the place up.

The cool feature slider I had in my previous header was nice, but by using it in my header I prevented myself from using the slider capability elsewhere on my blog. The feature slider is part of my blog theme, Pagelines Platform Pro. I decided it was time to free the feature slider from the header. I plan to use it to create a portfolio of my mood board work.

Another big change is my photo on the header. It is like one big hello and welcome when you come to the site. I used to have it at the top of the right sidebar, but it was taking up a lot of space. By moving the photo to the header, everything on the sidebar has bumped up, including the ads for my wonderful sponsors.

I am making all these tweaks myself, so instead of one grand redesign you will see little changes here and there. I plan to make additional changes to the sidebar to showcase top projects better. I also want more room to showcase special projects or series I am working on.

I hope you like the change. I am very open to feedback. Let me know what you think.

  1. Looks great! I love the clean look. :)

  2. Jackie, it looks amazing!! I especially love your new photo updates and where it’s placed. Awesome job!

Thanks Val. It’s only mildly embarrassing to have my photo at the top of a webpage. I used to not show it at all, but then I realized I like putting a face with a blog as a reader. I think it makes it more personal.

I like it Jackie… I read your blog everyday. What about if you added a cool background to your site or header/sides??? I love teal and lime too so, can’t go wrong… =)

Thanks Heather. I have seen a few good background examples and lots of bad ones. My primary concern is it slowing down the site loading. I like everything to be as quick as possible. I may just have to experiment and see how it goes :)

My only suggestion would be to change the word “lime” in the header. The outline is very difficult to see and sort of gets lost. Otherwise, I think the changes look great!
