Wow! July flew by in the blink of an eye. The weather here has ranged from down-right-hot to so-cold-we-actually-turned-on-the-heat-in-July. The crazy weather fluctuations have had us wondering if this is really summer, but the calendar does not lie. We are undeniably past the halfway mark for summer. It has been a fun and colorful month here in the Teal & Lime world.
I took advantage of the warmer days at the beginning of the month and painted our front door blue!
In another proof-I-am-a-color-lover post, I rounded up my favorite, mostly colorful, curvaceous lamps!
Meanwhile, inside on the colder days, I have been working with the boys on their playroom and bedrooms. This month I started the Decorating With Kids series, with a weekly topic on how you can involve your kids in decorating. So far, we’ve tackled choosing paint colors, using Pinterest, furniture layouts, and assembling furniture. I am excited for this series to continue in August.
The kid-focused projects have been a blast! Our pirate-themed playroom has a whale on the wall, part of a simple silhouette mural. The playroom also got a lighting upgrade with a semi-DIY striped schoolhouse light. And, to make sure the other walls in the playroom don’t get jealous of the mural wall, I started a pirate-themed gallery wall with simple DIY fabric art.
In my oldest’s bedroom, we rearranged the furniture to make room for his new desk.
Sometimes I have clients that want help with more than one room. Earlier this spring, I had the opportunity to design 8 mood boards for a Manhatten Tri-Level home. And, at the beginning of July, I had the pleasure of creating one more mood board for the home’s rooftop patio! See all 9 mood boards here.
In other client news, it took me less than 24 hours to hit publish and share this awesome Coastal Elegance office makeover.
Over on Pinterest, you might have noticed I have been pinning a lot of bedrooms on this shared board. More on that tomorrow!
As for my Insta-life, I’ve been pinning a lot with the hashtag #havenconf, because later this week I am headed to the Haven Conference. As part of the Haven Conference Photo-A-Day challenge, I have been instagramming weird things like my shoes and a business cared preview (more on those soon). I cannot wait to meet up with a bunch of like-minded bloggers!
The Best Posts were Scary to Publish
By far, my favorite posts of the month weren’t DIY or client related. The top three posts this month were the scariest for me to share! But, you guys were amazing with your comments, support, and encouragement. Early in the month I tested the waters sharing a failed DIY project. Then, I shared a dream about creating my own online decorating school. With your amazing comments I am pushing forward with my dream :) And, for whatever reason, the scariest post to share was about how I get ready for company. We all have our own stressors and anxieties. I put myself out there and shared one of mine. I appreciate all the commenters who let me know I am not alone!
Most people normally feel a fresh start at the beginning of the year, and I certainly made a fresh start then, but this summer has really been my fresh start. I feel like my mind, body, and spirit are in the right place. I am finally really doing what I love and loving what I do. I feel very excited for the future!
