Eek! I am a Pure Home Tastemaker!!! How is that for an opening line? I cannot contain my excitement.
I feel so honored that Pure Home asked me to be their Tastemaker for August! When I read the list of other tastemakers I thought two things: I don’t belong in such great company and yes, please, where do I sign up?! This certainly was not an opportunity I was going to pass up. As a blogger and Interior Decorator, this was kind of a big deal to me just to be asked. I totally squealed.
As Tastemaker, I had a ton of fun curating a collection from all the wonderful home furnishings available through PureHome. They presented me with a challenge and asked me to create a collection to solve it. The challenge was “how do you create a bedroom that isn’t just for sleeping, but is also for relaxing?” I used my favorite process, mood boarding, to solve the challenge.
For me, relaxing bedrooms come in one of two forms: light and airy or dark and moody. I created a mood board for each from the PureHome line.
The light and airy bedroom is refreshing in a soft color palette and traditional style. This is a room to rejuvenate in.
My top picks for achieving the light and airy bedroom are:
1. Chambray Linen Ocean Duvet Cover – I imagine this as close as it gets to sleeping in a cloud.
2. Rialto Daybed - A refreshing white daybed looks great at the foot of the bed or under a window.
3. Alder Boxes, Set of 3 - Clutter has no place in a relaxing bedroom. Stash it away in these.
Wall Paint Color: ICS 1-5
The dark and moody room, is a whole other kind of relaxing. The dark tones wrap you in cocoon of comfort. And, who wouldn’t want to cuddle up with a good book in a comfy sitting area?!
My top picks for achieving the dark and moody bedroom are:
1. Arabesque Dark Gray Area Rug - Every bedroom needs a great rug. This one brings the drama of the wall color down to the floor, too.
2. Teal Textured Pillows – Decorate the bed with rich color and sumptuous texture.
3. Mocha Peel and Stick Wood Planking – Made for walls, so you can make a focal wall the easy way.
Wall Paint Color: ISC 15-6

Guest Post on Pure Inspiration
In addition to the collection, I wrote a guest post for Pure Home’s blog, called Pure Inspiration. I shared my top 6 tips for making your bedroom a relaxing oasis.
Bedroom Sanctuary Pinterest Board
On top of the collection and blog post, I have been a pinning machine on the Pure Home August Tastemaker Board. The theme is “Bedroom Sanctuary”. The board has over 75 pins ranging from inspiring bedrooms to tips on choosing the right size rug and how to arrange your bed pillows.
All this talk about bedrooms has me itching to give mine a mini makeover. I think I want to go the dark and moody route. What about you? Do you prefer a light and airy bedroom or a dark and moody bedroom?
