Wow, how is it already the end of summer?! We have notoriously beautiful summers in Minnesota, but sadly this year wasn’t one of them. The awkward weather made summer slip right through our fingers. Thankfully, there were enough good weather days that we tackled almost everything on our summer bucket list.
My baby boy starts first grade this year, and I cried again. I probably will every year. The first day is school reminds me how quickly time passes. It is more noticeable when you start counting the passing of time by their grade levels. I still remember when I was a first grader and now I have a first grader.
August proved to be our busiest month of all this summer…full of lots of good stuff.
Many many amazing things went on this month, but I have to lead with my dream come true! I opened enrollment on my first online decorating class called Define Your Style. I gave a tour of the online learning environment and released a free lesson for everyone to try. Class starts in less than two weeks, so enroll now!
The first few days of August were unforgettable. I was named a PureHome Tastemaker and created a huge bedroom inspiration board as part of the campaign. I also curated a collection of my favorite items for a relaxing bedroom whether you like it light and airy or dark and moody. See the two relaxing bedroom mood boards I created!
I went to Haven!!! It was a roller coaster of emotions and I finally admitted to myself that many of these signs fit me… I am a newly discovered introvert. Still I made some amazing connections. I grew at the conference and have grown leaps and bounds since. I stuffed my business cards with fun pompom trim to inspire recipients to make pompom trim pillows!
We got to work on the pirate playroom! I added an interactive gallery wall complete with a roll up treasure map. I played the gallery wall game with my kids to decide on the perfect arrangement. By far my favorite addition to the room is the DIY rolling toy storage crates!
Elsewhere in the basement we made a few other fun updates. We finally put some of our photography up on the walls in the form of a magnetic message board. The big pop of yellow is so fun. Below the message board we transformed an old AV cart into a snack cart.
I shared a couple behind the scenes peeks for the first time ever this month. My house is a mess and full of incomplete projects, too. I also do crazy things to get good light for pictures.
I wrote my first ever contributor post over on 4 Men 1 Lady. I set the bar high for my first contributing DIY project, and painted a duvet set for my son’s room. It was way easier than it sounds!
I was introduced to a new store in Minneapolis called Prime and Polish. I LOVE it. It’s like Jessica was reading my mind when she stocked the store.
Now you know what camera I use, and it probably wasn’t the answer you expected. In addition to my serious camera, I have a new toy camera that I am completely smitten with. We used it over the weekend for a party photo booth. It was a huge hit!
Sometimes even I need help decorating. I found some brass wall letters I loved, but my hubby wasn’t so sure once they were hung up. I appreciate all the wonderful advice you guys shared, whether you were for or against. We decided to keep them and they are still hanging in the same spot, but we are on the lookout for another location.
I shared not one, but two, client before and afters. The first showed the power of a quick change by adding a rug to a room. The second proved you can create a playroom both kids and adults love.
Wow, again. I am kind of exhausted just thinking of all the awesomeness August was filled with. But I don’t have time to be exhausted, I am moving full steam ahead into September. I can’t wait for Define Your Style to start! Will you be in class?
