Foyer {Home Tour}
Our goal in this space was to take a long empty hallway and turn it into a welcoming foyer. The space is full of personality with artwork, an upholstered bench, and a warm glow from the overhead lights.
This space is done (for now). Here is how it turned out.

Hi there! Loving the blog!
So, are the Captains Mirror Gallery made of mirrors you made or purchased as is?
Hi Jessie. The mirrors were a DIY project. The full tutorial is here: http://www.tealandlime.com/2011/11/round-mirror-with-leather-strap-tutorial/
This looks so great! I love the ceiling drapes!! It makes the space so much more inviting and soft-looking. Great job!
Is there a tutorial on the bench? It looks wonderful and I would like to do something similar. Thank you!
Kelly, of course there is a bench tutorial. Sorry if it was not linked here. The bench is from Ikea and I semi-upholstered/slipcovered it. Here are all the details: http://www.tealandlime.com/2011/11/easy-bench-slipcover-tutorial/
Thanks so much Jackie! Another question, have you had any problems with the cushion sliding? I was thinking about using spray adhesive to keep cushion in place.
Kelly, I have not had any trouble with my cushion slipping. I covered the foam with batting and stapled it to the underside of the bench. My slipcover also fits nice and tight to keep everything in place. The only issue I have had is with a 4 year old who was bored during a time out, and ripped pieces of batting from the underside of the bench. It did not do any real damage, but lesson learned for me to cover the exposed bottom of the bench :)
Ok, good point. Well, it is just beautiful and I absolutely love the fabric/tablecloth. I am sure you hear this all the time, but you have a creative and sophisticated eye.
Love these mirrors! I can’t wait to make these! I have the same mirrors and found the belts. Where did you get hooks you used at the top please?
Thanks A! The hooks were a bit of a DIY themselves. You can see how I made them here: http://www.tealandlime.com/2011/11/captains-mirror-gallery/
